Viewing
distance is one of the most important
factors needed to determine the correct
size of most LED signs. As a general
rule: 1” character height
is viewable from up to 50’ away.
However, if the target audience is
moving, then another factor, time,
is required. An average of at least
3-4 seconds is required for a moving
audience to recognize and comprehend
6-8 groupings (frames) of content
on an LED display. The following chart
lists the maximum time an audience
will have to view an LED sign with
specific character sizes. For example,
an audience in as 35 mph speed zone
will have 9.7 seconds to view an LED
sign with 10” high text. |
